Earth is a material found copiously in nearly every biome under a layer of turf at the top of the Overworld.
Obtaining[]
Earth will drop as an item when broken with any tool or by hand, but a shovel is the quickest way to break it.
Natural Generation[]
Earth is found at any altitude, and comprises most the of the upper terrain layers in most overworld biomes, bridging the gap between stone and turf in varying widths.
There is roughly 1 square meter of Earth for every 35 meters in plains, forest, snowy tundra, jungle, and mountain biomes. There can be as many as 3,000 square meters in high mountains. Earth generates in areas underground as well. Earth also forms naturally in village huts and cabins. Earth also generates as part of the earth floor found in the starting point area in mines.
